Nolan Sisters to go back on the road
All-conquering 1970s girl band The Nolans are back after announcing today that they have reformed.
Coleen Nolan told GMTV the band would be embarking on a UK tour later this year.
She said: “You’ve no idea how excited we all are, I mean really, really excited.
“It’s just great getting back together, its just something we never thought that we’d ever do again.”
The Nolan Sisters shot to fame following their smash hit I’m In The Mood For Dancing in 1979. A number of hit singles and albums quickly followed.
Four of the original line-up – Coleen, 44, Bernie, 48, Linda, 50, and Maureen, 55 – are set to dig out their Spandex and head back out on the road.
Two other sisters – Anne and Denise – will not be touring.
Coleen said she had instigated the reformation after speaking to her manager.
She explained: “We’ve been approached before over the last four or five years but it has never felt like the right time and the right people being involved, and this time it was like ’let’s just do it once more’.”
Coleen Nolan was involved in a highly-publicised divorce from husband Shane Richie.
She said she would like to go back 25 years to talk to her younger self.
She said: “I would like to go back to the times when I was really down, or like when my marriage was falling apart and you just think you are never going to come out of that depression.
“I’d like to go back and go: ’You will’.
The Loose Women star added: “I wouldn’t like to go back and change anything because it’s got me to where I am today and made me the person I am today.”
She insisted the group were not too old to go back on tour.
She said: “You are never too old and that’s what we want to do with the tour. We want to say you are never too old to do this, it’s a real girls’ night out.”
