'X Factor' producers begged axed McCabe for fourth audition

Axed 'X Factor' wannabe Melanie McCabe has revealed producers rang her up and convinced her to go on the show.

The 20-year-old beauty initially decided against appearing on the show for a fourth time this year after singing for producers in a preliminary audition, before performing for the judges, but after making her decision show bosses called her and begged her to reconsider, telling her it would be "her year".

She said: "I had made the decision not to go ahead and I called them to say it. Then a few minutes later, my phone was buzzing.

"Producers got in touch telling me, saying, 'It'd be worth your while'."

Melanie also revealed 'X Factor' bosses asked her to list anything bad that had happened to her in the past few years.

Speaking on Irish radio station RTE 2FM, she added: "They ask you if there's anything bad that's happened to you in the last few years.

"I filled out what I felt I was currently going through, which was losing my house.

"People are very quick to judge when you're on a show like this."

Melanie went on to progress to the Judges' Houses stage of the competition before she was axed by Nicole Scherzinger, who is mentoring the Girls category, but fellow panellist Louis Walsh, who is in charge of the Boys, insists he tried to convince Nicole to pick the brunette stunner.

He explained: "If I was in charge of the girls, I would have taken Melanie through.

"I think she [Nicole] picked the three that she believed in most, I was doing my best behind the scenes."

But he doesn't think Melanie should audition for the show for a fifth time.

He said: "She should never do 'X Factor' again, I don't even know how she watches it!"
