Toll bridge rates increase by 20 cents

From January 1, 2004 toll rates at both the East-Link and West-Link bridges will increase in line with the toll operation agreements for both facilities.

From January 1, 2004 toll rates at both the East-Link and West-Link bridges will increase in line with the toll operation agreements for both facilities.

The new car toll rate at West-Link will move from €1.30 to €1.50; it has not been increased in the last two years.

The increase is as per the December 1999 agreement between (National Tow Roads) NTR and the National Roads Authority.

This is in respect of the funding of the €23m Second West-Link Bridge which opened in September.

The last increase in commercial vehicle rates was in July 2002. New commercial vehicle rates will also apply from January 1st.

It is expected that the contribution to the State from the West-Link toll facility, including licence fees, VAT and municipal rates, will be €29.4m, up from €21.8m in 2003.

The commercial vehicle rates being charged at West-Link are, on average, 68% of the maximum toll rates that could be charged by NTR under agreement with the State.

The East-Link toll rates will be changed in line with the East-Link Toll Bridge bye‑laws.

It is expected that the contribution to the State from the East-Link toll facility, including VAT, municipal rates and share of profits, will be €4.7m, up from €4.2m in 2003.

A significant discount scheme is to be applied to all new Eazy Pass customers who join the Eazy Pass system during the first six months of 2004. The main discount will apply to new Eazy Pass car customers who will receive a 12% discount for their first 6 months.

A 5% discount will apply to all new Eazy Pass commercial vehicle customers.
