Bollin Eric became the first Yorkshire-trained winner of the Rothmans Royals St Leger since Peleid in 1973 when staying on strongly to land the Doncaster Classic for Malton-based Tim Easterby today.

The Kevin Darley-ridden 7-1 chance was held up in fifth place as firstly Mr Dinos and then Bandari cut out the running.

Bandari kicked for home in the straight but Bollin Eric was always travelling smoothly and was sent to the front two furlongs out and keeping on well held on by a length from Highest (10-1) with Bandari (13-8 favourite) two lengths away in third.
