Richard Hughes has been booked by Jeremy Noseda to partner Theology in Saturday’s Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.
The Irish jockey had been in the frame to pick up the spare on Snow Fairy should Ryan Moore be required for Total Command and he had ridden the English and Irish Oaks winner in Moore’s absence in the Yorkshire equivalent.
But Noseda has moved for Hughes for Theology – 25-1 with the sponsors but bigger elsewhere – who was second in the Queen’s Vase before finishing sixth behind former stablemate Rebel Soldier in the Gordon Stakes.
“Richard Hughes will ride him,” the trainer told www.jeremynoseda.com.
“There is no doubt that we have a lot to find in what looks to be a rock-solid Leger, however, I do feel that he is a progressive horse.
“He will handle the cut in the ground and there are definitely reasons to forgive his last run at Goodwood. He is guaranteed to relish the trip.”
