Hunt makes quick return
Wolves midfielder Stephen Hunt has returned to full training – less than a fortnight after undergoing a hernia operation.
In a further fitness boost, feloow Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle has started light training and has not been ruled out of making a comeback this season from his knee ligament injury.
Hunt has endured an injury-hit first season at Molineux but could be available to play some part in the run-in.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy said: “Remarkably, ’Hunty’ is back in full training although he’s not fully fit yet.
“It’s incredible how quickly they turn these hernias around and he’s doing okay.
“He’s got a bit of scar tissue, and, like any operation, there’s some form of discomfort. But it’s not the hernia now, it’s just from the surgery.
“It’s been a stop-start season for ’Hunty’ because he’s had more injuries than he, or we, would have liked. He just needs more training now.”
Doyle sustained his setback while on duty for the Republic of Ireland during the last international break.
McCarthy said: “Kevin was out running today but, with a medial ligament, running is one thing and kicking and tackling is another.
“I’m not writing anyone off. We’ll see how he is.”
Meanwhile, McCarthy is resigned to being without full-back George Elokobi for the next three games with the hamstring injury suffered in training last week.
He said: “George is not as bad as we first thought but he won’t play any of these next three games.
“I don’t know how long it’s going to be – but he’s responded well.”
