Amy Winehouse’s dad Mitch has had to shelve his tour after being diagnosed with gallstones, it was announced today.
The cabbie turned swing crooner is to undergo keyhole surgery this weekend after he was taken ill.
Daughter Amy has been rallying to his aid this week, bringing him her own home-made chicken soup to the London hospital where he was being treated.
Mitch cancelled the first night of his tour on Monday in Edinburgh and has been unable to perform any further shows since. Now he has had to postpone the gigs, although promoters are aiming for new dates next month.
Mitch – who released his debut album 'Rush Of Love' in June – became ill while on holiday in Spain and received treatment before flying home. Earlier this week doctors thought he was suffering from gastro-enteritis.
A spokesman said: “He’ll be back on his feet soon and we are hoping to reschedule the dates for next month.”
