The Indian Army has attacked Pakistani military posts across the ceasefire line in the disputed Himalayan province of Kashmir.

The Indians used artillery, rockets, mortars, flame-throwers, grenade launchers and machine guns in the attacks, destroying 11 Pakistani outposts in the frontier areas of Akhnoor and Mendar.

The action, which breached a 10-month-old ceasefire, came as US Secretary of State Colin Powell arrived in Pakistan to discuss the US-British war against Afghanistan.
