Yugoslavia's federal parliament has revoked the immunity of a key lieutenant of Slobodan Milosevic for alleged atrocities in Kosovo.
Vlajko Stojiljkovic, a former Serbian interior minister, has been indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal
Following the request by a Belgrade investigating judge, the chamber removed the immunity of the former member of Milosevic's Socialist Party.
The move means that Stojiljkovic can be prosecuted and tried in a Yugoslav court.
It was not clear however if and when he would be extradited to the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague, which indicted him in 1999 for alleged atrocities committed against ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
Legislators ruled Tuesday Stojiljkovic cannot be arrested without prior parliamentary approval.
Yugoslav authorities launched an investigation against Stojiljkovic last year for alleged abuse of power and fraud, but he refused to appear before the court, claiming immunity.
