Ireland is third last in broadband pricing value for money among OECD countries, a new report has claimed today.
Internet consumer group IrelandOffline published the new broadband pricing report, comparing Ireland to the 29 other OECD countries.
Results of the report show that Ireland comes 27th out of 30 for value for money.
IrelandOffline chairman Damien Mulley said: "This report is the clearest evidence yet as to the state of broadband in Ireland. No talking up, side-stepping, or clever marketing can distract from the evidence: 26 other countries in the league of 30 score better for value for money."
Aidan Whyte, also of IrelandOffline added: "When you factor in the cost of Irish line rental, the most
expensive in Europe at €24 per month, consumers in Ireland pay out substantially more for a service that is, in most cases, significantly inferior to those available in other developed countries."
Mr Mulley urged consumers to write to their elected representatives and the Minister of Communications to highlight the problem.
