US police log: Call to actor's home was for suicide attempt

US police were called to Owen Wilson’s home because of a report of an attempted suicide, according to a police log of weekend calls obtained today.

US police were called to Owen Wilson’s home because of a report of an attempted suicide, according to a police log of weekend calls obtained today.

The log does not indicate who made the call, but lists “attempt suicide” as the reason for the emergency call.

Wilson was said to be in good condition yesterday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

The actor’s publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined to answer questions today about whether Wilson attempted to commit suicide.

She said Wilson’s statement asking for privacy was all that was being released.

Wilson was admitted to hospital on Sunday after a family member reportedly discovered the actor with his left wrist slashed next to an empty bottle of pills at his home in Santa Monica, California.

The 38-year-old movie actor – star of Starsky And Hutch, Wedding Crashers and You, Me And Dupree – was treated for dehydration and a possible drug overdose, according to tabloid reports.

There was also speculation in the US press over whether Wilson’s recent break-up with actress Kate Hudson had anything to do with his condition.

In a statement, the actor said: “I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time.”

His publicist Ina Treciokas said no further statements were expected.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre spokeswoman Cynthia Harding said “He is here in good condition.”

It was not known officially why Wilson was admitted to hospital, but a neighbour said a police car, fire engine and ambulance were outside the actor’s gated house at about noon on Sunday.

Neighbour Geoffry White, 61, who lives directly across the street, said: “These guys were kind of taking their time taking a stretcher out of the ambulance, then they went into the house.”

Wilson was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for 2001’s The Royal Tenenbaums.
