Mudawin, winner of last year’s Totesport Ebor at York, is gearing up to defend his title on August 22.
The six-year-old Intikhab gelding stormed to victory last year at 100-1, surprising many of his shorter-priced rivals in the process.
Mudawin’s Suffolk-based trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam reports him to be fit and well, but admits she is a little concerned her charge will not get a run.
“He loves the trip at York. I wasn’t unhappy with his last run at Ascot and hopefully he will make the draw,” she said.
“At the moment it is dependent on who drops out of the running but we are hopeful that he will make it into the race.
“As you know, you can never count him out of the running.”
Mudawin is rated a 16-1 chance by sponsors totesport for the showpiece Knavesmire handicap.
