After 27 long years on TV it’s hard to find something The Simpsons haven’t done, but at the weekend they found a new first even for them.
Using motion-capture technology Homer took live calls from viewers for the last three minutes of their new episode.
Pre-animated characters came into view throughout the scene as Homer, voiced by Dan Castellaneta, remained behind the desk.
Castellaneta then did his best to match his tone to when Homer’s mouth moved.
He answered questions like ‘what car did Homer drive?’ and offered tips on how to make it look like he is hard at work while he is really relaxing. Homer even answered a different set of questions after the show aired on America’s west coast.
We doubt it will be a permanent feature of the show, but you can never say The Simpsons isn’t innovative.
After all they probably did it first and in this case they did!
