Thirteen people were killed in the Philippines after marines raided a muslim guerrilla camp in a southern jungle in the country.

Thirteen people were killed in the Philippines after marines raided a muslim guerrilla camp in a southern jungle in the country.

The fighting broke out in Jolo Island, about 950km south of the capital, Manila.

It is the latest of a series of battles in the Mindanao region, where Government troops have been battling insurgents and kidnap gangs.
