French newspaper reports: Ronan O’Gara turned down a return to Ireland

French newspaper Midi Olympique are reporting that Ronan O'Gara has knocked back a move for him by the IRFU.

According to the report the union wanted O'Gara to replace Les Kiss in the Ireland camp following his move to Ulster.

The report comes days after O’Gara, who has been coaching at Racing 92 for more than a year, said there was “0.0%” truth in suggestions he was returning to the Irish set-up.

Writing in his Irish Examiner column on Friday the former Munster man said: “Without a doubt, I am in France for a good few years yet.

“There was some rubbish report around this week of me going back as the Ireland defence coach, which contains about 0.00% truth in it.

“Rugby-wise, the Top 14 is where it’s at. Of course, the other half of my life must be good here too. Jess is the woman keeping the show on the road, but she’s settled.”

Midi Olympique also reports that Eddie O'Sullivan’s time at Biarritz is at an end, with a severance package agreed between the Cork man and the French club.
