Breffni boys ready for epic battle

Cavan boss Eamon Coleman returns to his native county for this all-Ulster qualifer battle with Derry at Celtic Park today.

Cavan boss Eamon Coleman returns to his native county for this all-Ulster qualifer battle with Derry at Celtic Park today.

Coleman will also be facing Mickey Moran, his former managerial partner. The duo brought the Sam Maguire to Derry in 1993.

Cavan's 14-man display against Armagh when they were beaten by two points has fired the side and they are tipped for an extended run in this year's campaign.

The Breffni blues are without midfielder Pearse McKenna, who is suspended, and are missing Peter Reilly again through injury.

Meanwhile, Derry are without Sean Marty Lockhart, Jim Kelly and Eamonn Burke.

The injury crisis means that manager Mickey Moran is forced to make a number of changes to the side that beat Wicklow in the first round of the qualifiers.

Lockhart has been ruled out with a leg infection, while Kelly has torn his hamstring and Burke is on holidays. However, Enda Muldoon is set to return to that starting line-up following his recovery.

Paul McFlynn is likely to take Lockhart's place in defence.
