Schoolgirl raped in town centre car park
A 15-year-old schoolgirl was gang raped today after being chased through a busy town centre packed with Christmas shoppers.
The victim, who was out with a friend, was surrounded by the gang of youths in the Friary Centre in Guildford, Surrey, and led to a car park before being repeatedly raped by a number of boys, police said.
The horrific attack occurred between 11.30am and 1pm today.
A Surrey Police spokesman said the girls were surrounded in the shopping centre before being chased by the youths.
As the girls tried to escape the gang, the rape victim’s clothes were pulled from her as she ran up an escalator.
She was then overpowered and led to a stairwell at the nearby Bedford Road car park where she was raped.
Her friend was threatened with a metal bar by one of the gang, but escaped the ordeal, the police spokesman said.
Police today arrested five boys, all aged between 13 and 14-years-old, and they were being questioned at Guildford Police Station in connection with the rape.
Further arrests were expected to be made tonight and tomorrow.
