Britain’s first Big Brother “bonk” proved a turn-off for viewers, overnight figures showed today.
Teenagers Tommy Wright and Jade Dyer became the first couple to have sex in the Big Brother house in a show screened by Channel 4 last night.
But the audience was down almost million from the edition of Teen Big Brother screened the previous night.
Tonight viewers will see the pair did not even bother to save each other from eviction just hours after their romp under the duvet.
They are each asked who should be saved from the boot and Tommy opts for another housemate Tracey because she’s the only person he can chat to. Jade picks Paul as he’s her “best buddy”.
Last night’s show had 1.9 million viewers – 900,000 fewer than the Tuesday edition of the show which is being screened throughout the week.
It was also way down on Monday’s show which had 2.5 million.
A spokeswoman said: “We’re perfectly happy with the way it has been performing. It was up against tough competition with football and a movie.”
The show was screened during ITV1’s film Coyote Ugly, while Five was screening Liverpool’s Uefa Cup match live.
Last night’s show featured the moments leading up to the sexual encounter with a rustling duvet seen before the credits rolled.
After their romp Jade was offered the “morning after” pill, but Channel 4 will not screen the scenes because they felt it wrong to reveal medical information.
The station’s Teen Big Brother experiment saw eight 18-year-olds locked in the BB house. It was filmed earlier this year, so unlike the regular Big Brother, there is no public vote for a winner.
Channel 4 said today it had received just one complaint about the programme - for bad language. The Teen Big Brother series as a whole has prompted 10 complaints to the broadcaster, mainly for swearing.
