Freezing temperatures have left tomorrow’s Singer & Firedlander National Trial meeting at Uttoxeter in the balance.
Clerk of the course Jon Pullin revealed that an inspection will be held in the morning, although a time has yet to be confirmed.
“We’ve had temperatures down to minus four with a very cold wind overnight that has left the course frozen in places,” he said.
“The Met Office have said this morning that temperatures won’t rise much above plus one or two during the day.
“There is a risk of some snow showers this evening but any snow would be followed fairly swiftly by some rain.
“So it very depends on what happens overnight. I’ll be inspecting first thing tomorrow, time to be confirmed when I’ve spoken to the chairman of the stewards.
“If we do get some rain it will get rid of any snow we’ve had, which will lift any frost that is lingering around, so if the forecast is right we’d certainly have a chance.”
