Tipperary senior hurling captain Brian O'Meara faces a race against time to be fit for the Premier County's clash with Limerick in the Allianz National Hurling league tie on the weekend after next.
O'Meara was forced to retire from Tipp's comprehensive win over Offaly on Sunday last in Nenagh with double vision having taken a nasty accidental blow to the face.
There were concerns for his health after receiving the blow and he was replaced immediately.
The Mullinahone man had scored Tipperary's first goal just before his departure and he will now be faced with an up-hill climb before being declared fit for the fray again.
His injury is thought to be not too serious but details on his condition should be made known after the squad training session tomorrow evening.
