Los Angeles police have found the car belonging to fugitive Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster abandoned in Santa Monica.
The green Toyota Four-Runner was discovered in an affluent neighbourhood about 12 blocks from the beach and had apparently had been there for weeks.
Luster is charged with raping three women at his beachfront home after allegedly slipping them the date-rape drug GHB.
He disappeared halfway through his rape trial and a jury is considering his fate in his absence.
The 39-year-old great grandson of cosmetics magnate Max Factor jumped his $1m (€940,000) bail on January 3. He is charged with 87 criminal counts and faces a possible life sentence if convicted.
Officials said Luster fled his home in his car, taking his German shepherd and collection of Indian artefacts. The dog was found last week at his mother’s home in northern California.
