Former trainer David Flood has been partially successfully in his appeal to the Horseracing Regulatory Authority against a two-year suspension.
Although he is still warned off for two years with effect from tomorrow, he can seek employment in racing after 12 months rather than after 17 months.
Flood was found guilty in March of a variety of charges as a consequence of Mossmann Gorge being withdrawn by the stewards from his intended race at Newmarket last July.
His most serious breach was found to be of Rule 200, that he deliberately administered a prohibited substance with the intention of affecting the gelding’s racing performance.
Flood had been working for trainer Kevin McAuliffe while waiting for his appeal to be heard.
Flood’s former assistant Hugh Taylor had a nine-month ban reduced to six months.
