Richard Hughes became the third high profile jockey to be ruled out of next week's Budweiser Irish Derby when he earned the wrath of the Royal Ascot stewards in the day's finale, the Britannia Handicap.

Richard Hughes became the third high profile jockey to be ruled out of next week's Budweiser Irish Derby when he earned the wrath of the Royal Ascot stewards in the day's finale, the Britannia Handicap.

Hughes was given a three-day ban (June 30, July 1 and 2) for careless riding on board the Barry Hills-trained Lapwing in the race won by Analyser.

The officials ruled that shortly after the start of the one-mile event, Lapwing interfered with Definite Guest and Nose The Trade and ruled the interference as careless.
