Walliams to host BBC comedy panel show

Father-to-be David Walliams is to host a new Saturday night comedy panel show for BBC1.

The funnyman – who has announced that his wife, Lara Stone, is pregnant – will head up patriotic quiz 'I Love My Country', with teams answering questions about the UK.

Frank Skinner and Micky Flanagan will be the regular team captains on the show, which is to launch next year.

Each 50-minute programme will see them joined by familiar faces from sport and entertainment, and there will be a live band fronted by singer Jamelia. It is based on a hit Dutch version of the show.

'Little Britain' star Walliams has previously been a quiz host on Sky 1’s celebrity show 'Wall Of Fame'.

BBC entertainment commissioner Alan Tyler said: “I Love My Country is a funny, boisterous and shamelessly competitive celebration of the UK, with the perfect host and captains at the core.”

A pilot version of the programme earlier this year featured comic and actor Greg Davies.
