Ang Lee wants to direct Angelina Jolie in 'Cleopatra'.
The 'Life of Pi' director has revealed he could be signing on to helm the biopic starring the Hollywood A-lister, as it "feels right" and is different from the projects he has done in the past.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said: "I'm about to read the script. It just feels right to me after all the other types of films I've done.
"What does it have in common with any of them? They're all totally different! That's what makes this perfect."
The project - which is based on Stacy Schiff's book, 'Cleopatra: A Life' - has been in development since 2010 and been passed around several directors.
'The Social Network' helmer David Fincher gave up the reins last August, while 'Avatar' director James Cameron and 'The Bourne Ultimatum' director Paul Greengrass have also been linked to the picture.
Scott Rudin is producing the film for Sony based on a script from Eric Roth.
In the dramatic biography, Schiff claims Cleopatra - best known for her romances with Marc Antony and Julius Caesar - married both of her brothers and slaughtered them.
The late Elizabeth Taylor is most synonymous with the role of Cleopatra, playing the Egyptian queen in 1963.
