Coldplay stun pub revellers with intimate gig

Coldplay gave a local pub an intimate gig on Monday.

The 'Scientist' hitmakers - consisting of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion - took to the stage at the Ring O'Bells in Somerset after being asked to perform by Miles Leonard at a staff Christmas party.

Leonard part-owns the boozer and is the boss of the band's record company Warner Bros./Parlophone.

Some of the local residents were also in attendance, as well as Lily Allen and Glastonbury Festival organiser Emily Eavis.

Emily took to Twitter after the show, writing: "Coldplay played at the ring O'bells on the Mendip hills in Somerset last night, it was great!"

The group kicked off the 40-minute set with a series of hits including 'Yellow', 'Clocks', 'Paradise' and 'Christmas Lights', before being joined on stage by Lewis Watson, Royal Blood, Conor Maynard, Chas 'n' Dave and Becky Hill.

The Ring O'Bells posted on Twitter: "As you may have heard, We're extremely lucky and privileged to have hosted Parlephone and Warner Bros private party last night…

"And yes Coldplay performed along with some other great artists. It was an incredible evening and a once in a lifetime experience... And I'd like to thank everyone who made it possible. Can't wait for

Christmas and New years ... hope to see everyone in the pub soon (sic)".

Meanwhile, Chris also tried his hand at serving behind the bar as he poured pint after pint for the locals.

A resident told The Sun newspaper: "It was a stunning gig. Incredible. One we'll never forget. Chris was on form behind the bar and on stage -- he had great chat and looked so hot."
