You can’t win 'em all, even when you’re top box office draw Sandra Bullock.
She may be everybody’s favourite female lead, funny, sexy and charming, but she can also pick some turkeys to appear in … and this is most certainly one.
She plays a newspaper crossword compiler with an overbearing manner and a mouth that doesn’t know when to stop spouting.
She’s single – not surprisingly – and when she goes on a blind date with cable TV news cameraman Steve (Cooper) she instantly decides she’s in love and he’s the one.
He, on the other hand, takes flight … and she takes after him, intent on getting him to see they are soul-mates. In short, she stalks him across several states and we get a shallow film with unsympathetic characters; badly written and carelessly directed.
Bullock’s character, Mary, isn’t like any human being you would ever encounter and if you did you, too, would take off at a fast rate.
