Professor Stephen Hawking has lent his voice to the scientific brilliance of ... Monty Python?
As odd as that sounds, the world-famous theoretical physicist has recorded his own version of Monty Python's Galaxy Song, the 1980s comedy tune that has taught very many people everything they know about galactic scale.
The song is world-famous for being the main musical number in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, and appeared as part of the comedy group's recent run of live shows.
During the live performance, a video would be played to the audience of astrophysicist Brian Cox pointing out all the scientific inaccuracies in the song's lyrics – which are, generally speaking, pretty on-the-ball – before Hawking runs him down.
That performance by Hawking is now being released as a single t coincide with Record Store Day on April 18 - the track is available on iTunes from today, but will also be released as a limited edition vinyl.
All together now ... "Remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving, and revolving at nine hundred miles an hour..."
