It'll never surprise us the lengths some people will go to help others.
In a letter published in today's Irish Examiner, Patricia Storey shares her story of a random act of kindness she experienced in Cork last Friday.
Patricia, who is from Shropshire in England, was driving to Cork Airport when she got lost.
"I had missed the exit from N40 to the Airport. I drove round a few back streets that I hoped would take me back to the main road, and stopped when I came to a Post Office," she writes.
"I asked a gentleman in the queue if he could tell me how to get to the airport. He started giving me directions, but realised that I didn't know the area at all and suddenly said. 'Go to the top of the road, turn round; I'll wait for you, and you can follow me until the road to the airport is obvious'.
She says that she was "flabbergasted and almost teary with gratitude" and, thanks to the man's help, made it to the airport in time.
Now Patricia is looking for the man so she can thank him and is hoping he or someone who recognises the description will see it.
She says she didn't get the man's name but his car was a cobalt blue, Vauxhall Meriva.
"I will always be extremely grateful for this act of kindness to a complete stranger, who wasn't even from his own country. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
