This black metal drummer has been elected to town council

I'm sure you've heard of the black metal band from Norway called Darkthrone. No, me neither.

Anyway, they may have gained a bit more exposure now that their drummer, Gylve “Fenriz” Nagell, has been elected as a town councillor.

While Fenriz was busy making Satanic music for his band's new album "Arctic Thunder", he got a call from the local neighborhood council in Kolbotn, a suburb of Norway's capital, Oslo.

Fenriz said: "They called and asked if I wanted to be on the list [of backup representatives]. I said yeah, thinking I would be like 18th on the list and I wouldn’t really have to do anything."

So, to show his eagerness for the job, he used a poster of himself pictured with his cat, whose name roughly translates to "Peanut Butter".

"My campaign was a picture of me holding my cat saying, 'Please don’t vote for me'," Fenriz said.

"But people just went nuts."

So the 9,000 people of Kolbotn will have Councilman Gylve Fenris Nagell for the next four years since, under Norwegian law, he is not allowed to turn down his new position.

He said: "If you get voted in, you have to stay in that position for four years. And then you can pull out."

Thankfully, it's only as a back-up as Fenriz explained to CLRVYNT: "Basically, I have to step in when the usual people who go to the big meetings are sick or something. Then I have to go sit there and feel stupid among the straight people.

“I’m a pillar of my community,” he added.

Some of his fans just can't handle it.
