A search for the word "Oisin" on Twitter today reveals a slew of threatening, nasty abuse levelled at Tymon, balanced by those pointing out the BBC investigation found him "a completely innocent party".

But the biggest problem among the great British public seemed to be how the hell you say the poor guy's name.

First, people looked for similar sounds they knew

Hoisin sauce, get it?

Then they turned to the media for help — which they didn't get

Some tried to help out …

Others appealed to their popular culture knowledge
