This is a gem of a story.
A couple from Canada drove for 18 hours from Nova Scotia to New York to place a padlock on the Brooklyn Bridge as a symbol of their love.
Mal and Olivia brought a couple of friends (Madeleine and Erin) along for the journey, while Mal secretly brought along another lock with a diamond ring attached to propose on the bridge.
On the padlock was engraved "Don't freak out", something they were both about to do when Mal went to open it.
The lock quickly popped open and the ring dropped off to slip between two planks and plummet towards the river below, making the stunned couple fall onto their knees to see where it went.
As luck would have it, the ring landed on an industrial platform. However, the public weren't allowed onto it, which is where officers Manley and DeFazio enter our tale, stopping the Saturday afternoon traffic to descend onto the platform and reclaim the ring.
After a high-five with the officers, the girls got their ring back.
And, she did say yes. They plan on getting married in August 2016.
Later, the couple realised they would have lost their ring in the river if they had chosen a spot a few feet away.
