It's tough being a migrant worker, right? But for one stateless Pacific region demolition expert who's toiled in Japanese cities for over 60 years, recognition has finally arrived.
Yes, Godzilla is now a Japanese citizen.
The iconic King of Monsters and oft-times destroyer of Tokyo was presented with a sash and special residence certificate by the mayor of Shinjuku ward in Tokyo, Kenichi Yoshizumi, and the aquatic monster was also appointed as special envoy four tourism.

His certificate of residence was awarded to coincide wit the unveiling of a huge Godzilla robot head on top of the TOHO film building in the district.
The giant head occasionally spews smoke and roars with a flurry of flashing lights - a reminder to residents that their newest citizen could cause some problems if he was so inclined.
Never change, Japan. You're beautiful just the way you are.
