The teachers of one Cork school have turned up the volume to deliver a positive mental-health message to students by recording their own version of a classic rock anthem.
Working in secret over a two-week period, the teachers of Cobh’s Coláiste Muire lip-synched Bon Jovi’s ‘It’s My Life’ - and it looks a riot.
“Every year we run a Mental Health Week - and this year, we believed it was the turn of the teachers to give something back to the community,” said teacher and school well-being team member Louise Daly.
“Playing the video (for the school) surpassed all our expectations - teachers cringed as students, laughed, cried and clapped.”
The purpose of the video was to deliver a project that was fun and positive to bond teachers and students and promote that feeling around the school. And it worked.
“We're trying to show students how quickly and widely a positive message can spread,” Louise said.
“There's an atmosphere in our school that motivates us to mind each other. The video has been shared around the island of Cobh. Coláiste Muire is fast becoming a leader in promoting positive choices in terms of lifestyle and well-being.
“Who knows what we'll come up with next year?”
