Brexit caused a spike in online searches for 'Irish passport'

In the wake of Brexit, there has been a significant increase in the amount of British people searching for information on how to get an Irish passport.

Google Trends tweeted a graphic showing a 100% spike in searches for 'Irish passport', beginning at around 4am this morning as news trickled in of the referendum result.

As you would imagine, most of those searches have come from Northern Ireland.

Some opportunistic Irish people have also been doling out offers of marriage for those looking for a quicker route.

And some Northern Ireland fans are a bit confused about which queue to join having just arrived back in France ahead of the weekend's match.
