Irish Rail has said it hopes talks with trade unions next week will help to avoid threatened train strikes.
SIPTU and the NBRU had issued notice for morning rush hour strikes involving train drivers on Friday October 23 and Friday November 6.
But the Workplace Relations Commission, formerly the LRC, has invited the rail company management and the unions, to a meeting on Monday.
Barry Kenny, Communications Manager with Irish Rail, said it is in nobody's interests to disrupt services.
“It is crucial that disruption to our customers is avoided and we very much welcome the invitation from the Workplace Relations Commission, we have accepted," Mr Kenny said.
"We hope that the process that will take place for Monday will allow us to address these issues and get benefit for the company and employees and again most importantly ensure that we can operate all our services.”
NBRU general secretary Dermot O'Leary said: "Whilst we will as a matter of course play our part in trying to resolve this dispute it should be understood by all sides that the issue of previous contributions by train drivers remains top of the NBRU agenda".
