Small businesses have to wait, on average, 67 days to be paid, while one third have to wait more than three months, an ISME survey has found.
Leinster businesses have the shortest average wait at 64 days, while companies in Ulster have the longest wait, at 76 days.
The survey of 972 small business owners by the Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association showed that businesses are being paid slightly faster than they were a few months ago, however..
ISME are calling on the Government to implement a strict 30-day payment regime for all businesses trading in Ireland, to be phased in over a three-year period.
