The value of construction projects rose by €802m during the first half of 2015 and now stands at more than €2bn.
Building Information Ireland says new construction projects that began this year are up 41% from last year.
It's latest index has also found applications for planning permission for new projects have also increased by 27%.
Danny O' Shea, Managing Director of Building Information Ireland outlined how the index works.
He said: "Value is the key aspect of this building information index, so every project that has either commenced or been applied for is analysed and assigned an estimated value based on guideline construction costs.
"So we have a fairly good handle on what's happening in the sector."
