The Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe has said he wants to draw the Aer Lingus takeover saga to a conclusion "soon".
Paschal Donohoe has updated the Cabinet on discussions with Willie Walsh's IAG and said he anticipated being in a position to give a definitive decision in a matter of weeks.
He would not be drawn on a firm deadline for accepting or rejecting the €1.4bn offer, saying it was too big an issue for a rushed decision.
Mr Donohoe said: "It has been ongoing for a while because it is a very complicated issue…I want to make sure that whatever decision is made is the right one for the longterm future (of Aer Lingus and the country)."
