Currency fluctuations the immediate issue post-Brexit: Michael Creed
Currency fluctuations are one of the immediate issues facing Ireland following Brexit, Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed has said.
Minister Creed said there was still time to negotiate terms that would affect Ireland following Britain's vote to leave the European Union.
Enda Kenny met Prime Minister Theresa May earlier this week to discuss issues including a border between the North and the Republic.
Speaking to Cork's 96 FM, Mr Creed said: "(The UK) remains a part of the European Union until they have left and that's likely to be a couple of years at least.
"So we do have some lead-in time to ensure we prosecute Ireland's best interests.
"The immediate issue is in the area of currency fluctuations. But it's important to remember we've been in that space before as well. Where the pound is relative to the euro at the moment is a space we've been in for about five of the last 10 years."
