Using tourism for local benefit will be the focus of a major conference today.

Dublin will host the Responsible Tourism seminar and awards ceremony, which will see both Irish and international experts discuss how tourism can benefit the local community.

Leading professionals will examine successful Initiatives such as Ireland's Ancient East and the Wild Atlantic Way.

Director of the ICRT (Irish Centre for Responsible Tourism) James Chilton said: "Responsible travel is about having fun while also giving back. It aims to reduce its impacts while maximising its benefits."

The Irish Responsible Tourism Conferences & Awards take place today in the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin.
