The Group Chief Executive of Bank of Ireland and the former head of Ulster Bank will appear before the Banking Inquiry today.

Both Richie Boucher, who took over the helm of BOI in the wake of the bank guarantee, and Cormac McCarthy are expected to be pressed about the impact it and the economic bailout had on their financial institutions.

Last week, the inquiry heard from Bank Of Ireland's former Chief Chief Brian Goggin and the former Head of the European Central Bank Jean Claude Trichet in an informal manner.

The hearings begin at 9.30am.
