Aer Lingus is to reduce its transatlantic services from Shannon.
The airline said flights to New York and Boston will be suspended for 11 weeks from early January next year.
The routes in question have incurred significant losses during the winter months - but Aer Lingus insists it remains committed to Shannon airport.
The company drew strong criticism after axeing its Heathrow route from the mid-west airport only to later re-instate it.
