Aer Lingus crew votes to accept LRC proposals

Aer Lingus cabin crew at Shannon Airport have voted to accept proposals drawn up at the Labour Relations Commission, resolving a dispute over staffing new transatlantic services.

The Impact union says crews have voted by 83% in favour of the plans, helping to secure the future of Shannon as an Aer Lingus cabin crew base.

Aer Lingus staff had earlier voted for industrial action, and that remains on the table as other issues have yet to be resolved.

But Niall Shanahan from Impact says the LRC deal should mean the imminent threat to Shannon is over.

"Our expectation now is that Aer Lingus won't outsource those flights because they won't have to," he said.

"And I think the threat of closure that was issued by the company should have no reason to continue now at this point either."
