Nesbitt gearing up for Swedish Rally
Armagh’s Andrew Nesbitt and his Cork co-driver, James O’Brien are gearing up for the Swedish rally, the second round of the World Rally Championship.
Nesbitt, the double Irish Tarmac Rally champion was in Norway recently where he drove on the frozen lakes in a bid to acclimatise for his assault on the Swedish Rally.
The test was overseen by the experienced John Haugland.
Nesbitt will tackle the rally in a McKinstry run Subaru WRC, with support from all his regular sponsors, Cuisine de France, Subaru Ireland, Philip White Tyres, Daikin Air Conditioning and Cross Refrigeration.
Commenting on his stint in Norway, he said: "I feel ready to have a go at a proper snow rally and Sweden is the best in the World. It will be a huge challenge and one of my toughest since I was trying to win my first International rally 14 events ago, but I'm looking forward to taking our team and main sponsors, Cuisine de France, to one of the most spectacular rallies in the WRC."
Nesbitt is not the only Irish driver competing in the event.
Donegal’s Shaun Gallagher, a former winner of the Billy Coleman Award and Niall McShea (Fermanagh) will both drive Group N cars.
Gallagher is currently in Norway where he works at the John Haugland Rally School.
