A 16-year-old boy has died following a suspected stabbing at a secondary school in Aberdeen.

A 16-year-old boy has died following a suspected stabbing at a secondary school in Aberdeen.

The pupil was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after police were called to a serious incident at Cults Academy in the west of the city at about 1.30pm.

He suffered serious injuries and it is understood he died a short time later in hospital.

Police have confirmed that it is being treated as a murder investigation.

A 16-year-old boy has been detained in connection with the incident and is said to be helping police with their inquiries.
