A man who was allegedly racing another car slammed into the back of a vehicle driven by his own mother, killing her and another passenger.
Though injured himself, Dwight Samples, 21, asked Florida emergency workers to tend to his mother after he realised it was her car he had hit
Police in Dona Vista said he was driving his Ford Mustang with a powerful five litre engine when he crashed into his mother’s car.
Witnesses said he appeared to be drag racing with another car, which was not involved in the accident. He was believed to be speeding at 100 to 120 mph.
His mother, Diane Samples, and a passenger in her car, Vivian Green, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The son was airlifted to hospital with deep head wounds. He was in stable condition today.
His head went through the Mustang’s windscreen and the steering wheel was crushed into the dashboard.
