The Dutch government today released the nationalities of 10 of the 11 prisoners who died in a fire at Schiphol Airport last Thursday.

The government also promised to pay for round-trip plane tickets for close relatives to visit the remains of those who died.

In a letter to parliament, Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner said the government would pay for psychological counselling and burial costs for families that could not afford them, but did not discuss further financial compensation.

The victims were two each from Surinam, Ukraine, and Turkey, and one from Libya, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria and Romania.

The identity of the 11th victim is still being investigated, Donner said.

A probe into the cause of the fire continues.
