Pregnant woman dies in gang fight

A heavily pregnant woman was killed by a gang rival running over her in a Los Angeles street brawl, police said today.

A heavily pregnant woman was killed by a gang rival running over her in a Los Angeles street brawl, police said today.

Two other women were injured after two groups of women in their 20s agreed to meet for a fight in a store car park.

The confrontation spilled over into the road and Unique Bishop, 21, got into her car and deliberately drove it into the rival gang.

“It was totally an intentional act to kill the woman. It was the driver’s way of settling the dispute. It was a horrific act,” said a police spokesman.

Bishop fled after the killing but later surrendered to police and is being held in custody.

Witnesses told police they saw women shouting at each other and fighting at a discount store parking lot. The fight then moved onto the street.

Dozens watched as Bishop got into her car and drove it into the group. One of the victims was pinned against another car, police said.

The woman killed was eight months pregnant and another victim was in critical condition and expected to lose her leg. None of the victims’ identities were released.

“We have seen women around gangs before, but we haven’t seen anything like this event before,” said the police spokesman.
