A man has fatally shot seven people and wounded six others before being shot dead by police in the Philippines.

Cavite provincial governor Jonvic Remulla said the dead in Kawit township, 10 miles south of the capital Manila, included a pregnant woman and a seven-year-old girl.

Mr Remulla said the gunman was Ronald Bae. A radio report citing a doctor said Bae was 30.

Mr Remulla said Bae was originally from Kawit and returned on Wednesday after leaving his wife.

Radio reports citing neighbours said Bae was drinking beer at a store in Kawit late on Thursday. He left but later returned and began the shooting spree in the surrounding neighbourhood.

Police said they are looking for a man who helped Bae reload his gun during the spree.
